1 February – 2 March | Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery
Featuring over 50 local artists, New Year: New Work reveals the vitality and diversity of the Coffs Coast arts community and brings art and business together. Presented by the Friends of the Gallery in partnership with the Regional Gallery and supported by sponsors such as yourself, artists have had free rein to create what they want with a square piece of plywood. Be inspired by their imagination!
21 – 24 February | Bonville Golf Resort
Australia’s newest professional golf tournament for women, the Australian Ladies Classic – Bonville is just around the corner.
Here’s your chance to see some of the world’s best female athletes compete including Dame Laura Davies, Hannah Green and Rebecca Artis.
22 – 24 February | Bellingen + Coffs Harbour
The 11th Sgt. Matthew Locke MG Charity Weekend will take place on 22 – 24 February 2019 and will be marked by a range of events, including a golf day at Bellingen Golf Club on Friday, the Army Thunder vs Bellingen Magpies Charity Match on Saturday and a concert by the Australian Army Band and Coffs Regional Brass Band at C.ex Coffs on Sunday.
Sgt. Matthew Locke was born in Bellingen and served in the Australian Army for 16 years before being tragically killed on 25 October 2007 while on duty in the Uruzgan Province of Afghanistan. He was serving with the SASR of the Australian forces as part of the security section of the reconstruction task force.
2 & 3 March | Jetty Foreshores
The annual triathlon is a key event for the region drawing competitors from all over Australia. The event is open to triathletes from as young as six to over 80 years old who participate in the weekend of races held around Coffs Harbour’s iconic Jetty Foreshores.
The bcu Coffs Tri is held on a spectacular course with a protected harbour swim, cycle on closed roads and a run around the picturesque Jetty foreshores, with events for Kids aged 6-13; an Enticer tri for novices; and the headline Standard Distance race (1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run) for both individuals and teams.
8 March | C.ex Coffs
International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrates and acknowledges the achievements of women globally. The three major women’s groups in Coffs Harbour; the Zonta Club of Coffs Harbour Inc., BPW (Business and Professional Women) Coffs Harbour and the Coffs Coast Business Women’s Network (BWN) will again be holding their very special breakfast on the morning of 8 March 2019 to provide the opportunity for girls, men and women to come together to share in the successes of our local women and girls. This year’s guest speaker will be the inspiring Dr Angela Jay, who will inspire the audience with her story of overcoming a horrifying assault.
The International Women’s Day Coffs Coast Woman of the Year Award was established to acknowledge the positive contribution of women in the Coffs Coast region. It aims to recognise outstanding women working for the betterment of women and girls in business, education or community. The 2019 winner will once again be announced at the IWD Breakfast.
23 March | Coffs Harbour Olympic Pool
The 9th Annual Coffs Coast/Clarence CanDo Cancer Trust Charity Swim will be held on Saturday 23 March 2019. To enter you need a team of 4 swimmers (can be more or less if so desired) who will swim as many laps relay style in a 30 minute block on the day. Collectively all participants need to swim a total of 394 laps (the equivalent distance of the Rottnest Channel Swim in WA). All funds raised from the event are used to support patients and families attending the North Coast Cancer Institute.
